This past Monday, my group and I finished our project and had our last Riley Lunch Bunch of the school year. For this lunch we had O'Charley's donate food. We were a little nervous to see what we would get since the last lunch we had had catered was not a big success and we didn't get a lot of food donated. When we picked up the food I was excited to see all the food that they gave us. They ended up donating two pans of pasta, a pan of rolls, salad, some chicken, and two pies. Once we set everything up back at the school we then had to wait for people to come. Once it was finally time, I was surprised by the amount of people that came. I really enjoyed this project and am sad to see finally come to an end!

Since our last lunch we have sort of been stuck. We had several restaurants in the works but could not get them to contact us back. This past week we made trips to Olive Garden, Wings Etc, O'Charley's, Chick-fil-A, and Qdoba to try to plan our next event. Finally at the end of the week we were able to get confirmation from some restaurants so we are able to roughly schedule the rest of our lunches. We have the following dates that we have set to have our lunches: March 13th, April 10th, April 22nd, May 2nd, and May 15th. Olive Garden has agreed to take the spot on March 13th. O'Charley's contacted us and chose to do April 22nd. We have set aside May 2nd and May 15th for Qdoba and Chick-fil-a since we had to send a letter to both of their corporation offices. While waiting to hear back from the restaurants we also made a video that we hope to put on NP120! Wednesday was our first lunch and to me I feel that it was a big success! Leading up to the event I was a little nervous for it to happen, because I was unsure if we would have people come to it and Dane was going to be gone so we would not have our full group. Leading up to the event, Natalie was worried the we wouldn't have enough pizza for all of the people coming. On the day of the event Natalie and a few of her friends went to go pick up the pizzas while Megan and I went and got the cupcakes from The Cake Hole. Natalie decided to buy an extra pizza so we would have enough food for everyone. At the lunch we had about 10 people come and get food. The students in the conference room but the majority of the teachers took their food back to the teacher's lounge. After purchasing drinks, plates, napkins, and the extra pizza we made about $80!! Next time we are hoping to have even more people come , so we have started to hang up more posters and we hope to get an announcement on NP120.
Now that Super Senior Fans has come to an end, I have started a new project with my group. Dane, Megan, and I paired up with another person in our class, Natalie Cramer for this project. Our group was interested in doing something to give back to a hospital in Indiana. Our first idea was doing a Riley Dance Marathon at our school, but after speaking with Mr. Large we decided that it was too late to start planning for it now for it to be successful. We finally ended up deciding to do a project called Riley Lunch Bunch. This project helps raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital. For this students will have the ability of a catered in lunch during school hours. We will have a maximum of 10-15 students each lunch date for a certain lunch. The students will pay $10 for a catered lunch, which will then be donated to Riley Children’s Hospital.
We are looking at different restaurants near New Palestine to see if they would be willing to donate food for one of our days. Here are some of the options: - Olive Garden - Qdoba - Mama Nita’s - City Barbecue - Jimmy Johns - Subway - The Cakehole I am very excited to begin this project and I think it will be a big success at our school! |
